Thoughts:
A friend recommended this to me after I'd watched "Trap" earlier this year due to the vibe of 'not the type of guy cast as the villain.' And while Tatum's character, Slater King, is... he is what he is. Hartnett in 'Trap' is still certifiably creepy, lol.
That aside this movie feels disjointed from the very beginning and when you see it, I think the feel of the filming, her perspective, and how the character eventually comes to be on this island it makes sense. I was caught off-guard by a few things about this movie and because of that, it felt different. Early on, I was frustrated by it, trying to make sense and form logic but by the end I was looking at the end credits, because how it ended had me like, 'who wrote this?!' LOL! And upon seeing it who did write/direct it, I shook my head and went, 'yep, that ending makes sense.'
This was for sure worth the watch and having seen it once, and knowing what I know, I'm considering watching it again before I return it to the library.
