I just finished watching 'Derry Girls' tonight and had several laughs over the time I've been watching it since starting the series a month or so back. But the last two episodes of the series definitely produced eye sweat. It feels like one of those shows I'll rewatch in doses as I did with this go. Sometimes the antics were a bit too much or Claire. Just Claire was too much. Love her character and Nicola Coughlan definitely played her well. Though of all the characters, Orla and that steady 'beat to my own drum' was absolute class. Which makes the last episode and the opening fitting to start on her. And Erin's words at the end, given the current time, that sense of hope ::swoon::
However, what prompted this post was the list of other shows that came up on Netflix and one caught my attention because it reminded of this skit with Adam Driver.
The show? The Man with 1000 Kids
So, then I thought 'Oh, did SNL make this skit based off this show' but it turns out the show is a recent release HOWEVER much with anything just because it's new to you doesn't mean it's new. In that, a lot of times goes into what makes it to tv or film, even with the expedition of things these days, there is still some gatekeepers even if they look to be few and far between. Only those involved with the documentary know when the idea was conceived, pun intended, and what was pitched or what have you before it got the money to do what it needed to do, make moves, distribution, ... blah ze blue.
All that said-
Derry Girls is worth watching. And this SNL skit with its M. Night Shyamalan twist type ending is funny.
